back in the mid 80's when I was in Russia, there were a lot of the population that smoked.
In the 90's there were still a good many of people that smoke but it seemed to be tapering off. Last time I was in Moscow in 2008, about 1/2 of the people I saw on the streets were still smoking. at least they were not into the vaping.
